Deerfield Township Fire Chief imposed burning restriction on all large fires.  No fire pile shall be over four (4) feet high.  Times for burning are between 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Saturday and Sunday.  All fires under this permit shall be completely out by 9:00 PM.  To obtain a burning permit come into the hall and sign for one. 

  • Permits can be issued for up to two days at a time.

  • Permits are free.

  • Ten (10) permits are given out per day.

  • Permits are not to be issued in advance.

  • Campfires do not require a burn permit.

  • You do not need a burning permit for open burning when the ground is completely snow covered.

  • Burning in a burn barrel is permitted with a mesh screen of no more than 1/4 inch on top of it.


No burning of furniture, mattresses or box springs, tires and also no burning of materials like siding, roofing, tar paper, insulation and shingles.


Do NOT dump motor oil, oil paint, paint thinner or insecticides of any type.


Failure to get a burn permit could result in a $100.00 fine.

The Deerfield Township Fire Dept. is currently taking applications for day shift Volunteer Fire Fighters.  This is a paid per-call position.  If you would like to help your community, please apply.  Applications will be taken Mon-Wed & Thurs at the Township Office.
